Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  I would like to invite each of you to attend our annual Back-to School Night. This event will be held on August 31,. Our evening will begin in our gymnasium promptly at 6:00 p.m. for a brief overview of the evening. Note: We will be holding an ELAC meeting at 5:30 p.m. in Room 409.

After the opening meeting, you will have the opportunity to follow your child’s schedule of classes. During each class session, our teachers will give a brief overview of the instructional program and explain the exciting activities that will be taking place this school year. Unfortunately, due to the short time allotted for each class period, we ask that you do not use this time to hold conferences with your teacher. You are more than welcome to make an appointment to meet with a teacher through your student’s counselor.

El Roble was named a 2017 Gold Ribbon School by the California Department of Education.  El Roble is the first school in CUSD to receive this prestigious award since the inception of the program.

The Gold Ribbon Award recognizes California schools that have made gains in implementing the academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education. These include the California Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, California English Language Development Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson said, “These terrific schools are leading the way in embracing our new rigorous academic standards and showing others how to help students succeed on their way to 21st century careers and college.”  They represent examples of not just excellent teaching, learning, and collaborating, but also highly successful school climate efforts.

Congratulations to the staff, students, and parents for making  El Roble such an outstanding school.

After an extensive analysis of student data for every public school in California, El Roble was selected as a 2016 California Honor Roll School.  Schools receiving this distinction from the California business community have demonstrated consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.   The CBEE Honor Roll is the only school recognition program in the state using only student achievement outcomes as the criteria and is a growing resource for all schools to learn about best practices that increase student achievement. CBEE utilizes data from the non-profit Educational Results Partnership, the largest longitudinally-linked, actionable school data system in the country.

CEF Scion Raffle - Our school is excited to participate in the 7th Annual CEF Scion Raffle.  Claremont Toyota has been a generous donor to CEF, and they have pledged a Toyota Prius C for the 2016-2017 school year.  The raffle will be held on April 23, 2017 and we are selling tickets now!  Tickets are only $20  and can be purchased in the office (cash or checks made payable to CEF).  Our school can earn up to $7 for every ticket sold, and we can earn up to another $600 in incentive awards if we sell the most tickets or sell the winning ticket.  Help spread the word about the raffle with your friends, neighbors, family and co-workers.  They may want to buy a ticket and help our school.  Thanks for your continued support of CEF, which provides district-wide funds for art, music and technology  for the 2016-2017 school year.
